2026 North Portland Fund
Community Grant Recipients
The Portland Parks Foundation (PPF), in partnership with Portland Parks & Recreation (PP&R), is excited to announce the distribution of $80,000 from the North Portland Fund (NPF) Community Grants Program to 10 projects led by community organizations in North Portland. The NPF grants are funded solely by major event promoters who produce large spectator events at Portland International Raceway.
The NPF Community Grant Program’s goal is to provide improvements to neighborhood vibrancy and livability in the 11 surrounding communities of Arbor Lodge, Bridgeton, Cathedral Park, East Columbia, Kenton, Overlook, Hayden Island, Piedmont, Portsmouth, St. Johns, and University Park, with special consideration for projects that benefit Portsmouth, Kenton, and Hayden Island, given their proximity to Portland International Raceway (PIR).

PPF received 50 applications for the NPF Community Grants Program this Spring 2026 cycle. Applicants could request grants from $3,000 - $10,000 to support projects that occur within the 11 priority neighborhoods. Additional priority was given to projects in high-priority neighborhoods in close proximity to PIR (Kenton, Portsmouth, Hayden Island) as well as projects prioritizing environmental impact, youth engagement, and historically excluded communities.
Projects selected this cycle offer a wide array of community and business benefits from improving food education and access, expanding bike access and services, creating community science inquiries to air quality, providing livability improvements to homeowners, and more. These projects are spread across North Portland, with over half of the awarded dollars supporting the high-priority neighborhoods directly.
