Julie Vigeland 

A former high school English teacher, Julie has spent the last 40 years as a civic volunteer in the Portland Community.  Julie is board member emeritus of the Portland Center Stage Board after serving as Chair for 5 years and serves as their Capital Campaign chair for the Gerding Theater.  Julie serves as a Trustee for both the Jackson and Wessinger Foundations and is President of the Multnomah Athletic Foundation.  She is the newly elected Chair of the Oregon Arts Commission and is immediate past chair of the Portland Parks Board.  She is also a Senior Fellow of the American Leadership Forum.  Previously, she served as President of the following organizations: Friends of the Performing Arts Center, the Women’s Care Foundation, the Junior League of Portland; Grantmakers of Oregon and SW Washington; and Portland Civic Theatre. Additionally she has served on the boards/foundations of the following: Regional Arts and Culture Council, Portland Youth Philharmonic, Oregon College of Art and Craft (board and foundation), Oregon Symphony Foundation, Friends of Timberline, Meridian Park Hospital Foundation, and the Giving in Oregon Council for the Oregon Community Foundation.

Julie is a past recipient of the Marylhust University Women of Distinction Award; March of Dimes White Rose – Oregon’s Women of Achievement Award; Oregon College of Art and Craft – Jo Groves Award for Service to the College; and the Junior League of Portland – Sustainer of the Year Award.  Julie attended the University of Puget Sound and received a B.A. from Portland State University. As a synchronized swimmer, Julie is a member of the Multnomah Athletic Club’s national champion synchro masters team.
