This work party will be a chance to clean the garden after a busy summer. We will be laying down wood chips on pathways and around perimeter, spreading compost and removing debris from the garden.

Ages: All children welcome with parental supervision.
Things to bring: Please dress for the weather and wear sturdy closed-toed shoes. If you have them available, please bring your own marked work gloves and hand tools. Please bring a full water bottle.

Help build and maintain Mt. Tabor's beautiful hiking, biking and running trails. Grab neighbors and friends and give back to one of Portland's most loved parks.

Buckman Community Garden

Buckman Community Garden

Our community garden is on a slope of several terraces, each plot bounded by a wooden plank (particularly separating the various terrace levels.)  Some of these planks have fallen into disrepair or otherwise not solidly holding in their raised bed.  Many hands are needed to re-build and reinforce these raised beds.

Ages: Ages 18+ welcome.
Things to bring: Things to bring: Please dress for the weather and wear sturdy closed-toed shoes. If you have them available, please bring your own marked work gloves and hand tools. Please bring a full water bottle.
Abilities or Skills Preference: Carpentry or construction experience is helpful.

Come help beautify one of Portland's most loved community centers! Join neighbors and friends to beautify the East Portland Community Center landscaping by laying down new mulch and beautifying the parking lot planters.

Pittock Mansion Gardens

Come help keep the Pittock Mansion garden beds beautiful and prepare them for winter by raking out the flower beds and covering them with mulch. A great way to spend a day on one of the most beautiful landscapes in Portland!

Special Directions: Volunteers should carpool or use public transportation if possible due to low parking availability. If driving, please park on Monte Vista St. below the mansion - continue straight at the turn instead of going up to the main parking lot.

Join Portland Parks & Recreation to help beautify Wilkes park by removing a chain-link fence and building a split-rail fence. Volunteers will also help remove invasive non-native species from the natural area in Wilkes Park. Invasive species removal restores wildlife habitat and encourages native species regeneration to prevent erosion and water run-off. 

Ages: All children welcome with adult supervision.
Things to bring: Please wear long pants, a long-sleeved shirt and sturdy shoes. Bring a water bottle, rain gear and sunhat. Instruction, tools, gloves, water, coffee/tea and KIND Snacks provided.

Leach Botanical Garden

Come help Leach Botanical Garden renovate our display garden! We are going to replace landscaping fabric with gravel in the pathways of the display garden. We will also work in the fuchsia garden if there is time. Another option will be to pull ivy- always a valuable contribution to keeping the garden healthy!

Specific Location Directions: Volunteers should meet in the Upper Garden under the tent. Please note that the bridge is out so volunteers should use the detour to access the parking lot. Join Hoyt Arboretum Friends in maintaining Portland's living library of trees. Volunteers will be removing invasive species, mulching, re-potting plants, weeding, root pruning, and trail work.

Specific Location Directions: Meet at the Hoyt Arboretum Visitor Center.There is limited parking here, people should plan on carpooling or taking the MAX.
